International Museum Day

We are celebrating the International Museum Day with free admission to the museum this Saturday! The theme of the day is Museums as Cultural Hubs: The Future of Tradition. Take a look at our previous exhibitions and think, if you had a chance to build a museum what would it look like? Leave your best thoughts in our idé box.

Also the Fiskars Village Art & Design Biennale 2019 will be opened this weekend. It is the first biennale of a series of four. The museum is participating  in the biennale with parallell programs!


Lively at Hammarbacken & Historical Horse Carriages Competition

8 June 2019 11 am to 5 pm

During the summerevent the Hammarbacken area will be filled with historical villagers, activities and fantastic horses with carriages. This exhibition Full Gallop will be presented in the museum buildning in finnish at 11.15 am, 12.15 am and 3.15 pm and in english at 2.15 pm. Between 12 am and 2 pm visitors can follow the playful Historical Horse Carriages Competition at Malcolm`s street. The public can vote for it´s favorite and in the end a winner is declared. In the old Bakery visitors can participate in baking and churning butter with Fina Ring and her house maid. Tinn soliders can be made with Kalle in the Foundry. In the garden you can play the horse shoe game. The old village shop is open in Slaggbyggnaden. Here you can buy locally made traditional sweets. In case you get hungry Café Hammarbacken is open. Free admission!

Ironworks Villager´s Stories

26 June - 4 April 2019

A guided tour is arranged on the trail of Finland's first narrow-gauge steam locomotive Pikku-Pässi. Experience history and hear stories about Fiskars Iron Works from the 19th century until today, and discover the history of the buildings along the way. The content of the tour is adapted flexibly according to the spoken languages and participants' interests.

Fiskars Museums 70 years is celebrated with program and free admission!

Christmas at Hammarbacken opening

30 November, 11am-4pm

When snowflakes are falling and you hear jingle bells in the street, it´s time to open the cozy Christmas at Hammarbacken. In this years theme exhibition Dear Passengers we tell the story of the ironwork´s Pikku-Pässi locomotive and memories connected to the train. The Dear passengers exhibition is presented in finnish at 11.15am, 12.15am and 3.15pm. In swedish or english in 2.15pm. In the Iron works villager´s workshops you can make gingers breads, Christmas decorations and write Christmas greetings with inc pens. In our cozy Café Hammarbacken we serve traditional Christmas pastries.

During Opening Day we have free admission to the museum and we serve glogg!
